Due to numerous requests, David Pascoe now offers on line consulting for a variety of issues related to boat purchases. The rate is $75 per half hour with a half hour minimum charge. We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express payments.

The phone number to call is 850-650-1255.

How It Works

You call and tell us what kind of information you are seeking.
If I feel that I can't answer your questions adequately, I will tell you so and you will not be charged.
If I feel that I can answer your question(s) adequately, you will be asked for your credit card information, so  have your card handy.

The most common questions we get are those about quality issues and what type and brand boat to buy. With over 800 boat builders in the U.S. alone, needless to say we do not know them all. But, if you are considering the more popular builders of larger boats we can probably help. If I can't answer a specific question, you won't be charged for my telling you that I don't know.

If you're looking for information about smaller boats in the under $30,000 range, it's unlikely that we will be able to help you.

Questions we can  usually answer, but not limited to:

    Construction quality
    Suitability of types and styles
    Hull coring issues
    Sea keeping and performance
    Best power options
Engine reliability (most brands and models)
    Value and resalability
    Depreciation and maintenance costs
    Ease of service and upkeep
Repair issues such as cost, proper methods
    Repowering issues
    Trim and handling problems

Questions we usually can't answer:

    About small runabouts
    Propeller sizing and speed
    Fuel consumption rates
About foreign built boats without established reputations
About domestically built boats without established reputations
    Obscure, limited production builders

Other Services

In addition to boat purchase issues, I have also helped many people with warranty claim and insurance claim issues. If you have a problem with a dispute over the cause of a warranty claim issue, or you feel that your insurance company is wrongly denying claims for engine or other damage, I may be able to help you. For over 25 years I have been engaged as a machinery damage expert for insurance companies.  I make that same service available to boat owners.
